Prof. Dr. Marco Althaus ist Professor für Sozialwissenschaften im Fachbereich Wirtschaft, Verwaltung und Recht an der Technischen Hochschule Wildau bei Berlin und stellvertretender Vorsitzender des Vorstands des Wildau Institute of Technology e.V. 

Arbeitsgebiete: Politik-, Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften, Europapolitik, Wirtschaftspolitik, Politische Kommunikation, Unternehmenskommunikation und Public Affairs, Lobbying, Verbände, Beziehungen zwischen Politik und Wirtschaft, Internationales Management; regionale Schwerpunkte: EU und USA.

Er hat mehrere Fachbücher und zahlreiche Aufsätze veröffentlicht. Er ist neben der Hochschullehre in der Weiterbildung und Wirtschafts- und Politikberatung tätig.

Aktivitäten: Er ist Vertrauensdozent der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Mitglied im Redaktionsbeirat der Fachzeitschrift Politik & Kommunikation und Mitglied in mehreren wissenschaftlichen Fachgesellschaften.

Beruflicher Werdegang: Dr. Althaus war zuvor Gastprofessor an der TH Wildau, Leiter des Deutschen Instituts für Public Affairs in Berlin, Leiter der Unternehmenskommunikation der SPD-Medienholding DDVG im Willy-Brandt-Haus, Pressesprecher des Niedersächsischen Ministeriums für Wirtschaft, Technologie und Verkehr, Pressestabs-Redakteur im Bundesministerium der Verteidigung in Bonn sowie Journalist bei verschiedenen Tageszeitungen (Ausbildung zum Redakteur/Volontariat bei der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung, Landespolitik-Redakteur bei der Neuen Presse Hannover).

Akademischer Werdegang: Diplom-Politologe, Freie Universität (Berlin); Jahresstipendiat der Duke University Graduate School (Durham, North Carolina); Master of Arts in Political Management, George Washington University (Washington, DC); Master of Science in Education, Capella University (Minneapolis); Research Fellow, German Marshall Fund of the United States; Promotion in Sozialwissenschaften an der Georg-August-Universität (Göttingen).

Prof. Dr. Marco Althaus is professor of social sciences in the department of business, public administration and law at Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau, near Berlin, and vice chairman of the board, Wildau Institute of Technology.

Interests: Political and social sciences, economics and business, European politics and public policy, economic policy, political communications, corporate communications and public affairs, lobbying, associations, business-government relations, international management; regional concentrations: EU and USA.

He has published several books and a range of articles. Aside from university teaching, he is involved in professional education and busines and political consulting.

Activities: He is academic advisor/liaison tutor for the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, a member of the editorial advisory board to the professional journal Politik & Kommunikation, and member of several learned societies.

Career: Prof. Dr. Althaus has been visiting professor of social sciences at Wildau, director of Deutsches Institut für Public Affairs in Berlin; communications director for the Social Democratic Party's media holding company, DDVG, at party headquarters in Berlin; press secretary to the minister of the state ministry of economic affairs, technology and transportation in Hanover, Lower Saxony; press staff editor at the German ministry of defense in Bonn, and a newspaper journalist at various daily newspapers (editorial trainee, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung; state political editor, Neue Presse, Hanover).
